YOGA CLASSES

ANIMAL FLOW

Animal Flow is a ground based movement practice. Animal flow has movements that can be found in yoga, calisthenics and capoeira but breaks them down into an easy to follow system that can be both fun and challenging for both the brain and body! Once the movements, and names of the movements are learned the instructor calls out each move one after the other so a continuous 90 second flow can be achieved by the end of a class. Students will be moving throughout the room and a mat will not be necessary.

BEGINNING BASICS YOGA

The focus of the Beginning Basics class is to provide a foundation for Vinyasa Flow classes. You will learn the basics of each pose while building strength and flexibility at a slower and steadier pace. Alignment and breathing are important in this class, and the instructor will provide detailed verbal cues to help you find modifications that work best with your own body. Beginner Basics will prepare you to explore other classes and styles at the studio. Although this class is geared towards beginners, those with experience can also benefit from revisiting the basic principles of yoga flow and breathwork.

DONATION-BASED VINYASA FLOW

This is a moderately paced class where students will continue to build strength and flexibility through a series of postures. The sequences will build from basic to complex, and students are encouraged to modify poses based on their own abilities. Some yoga experience is encouraged but not required, and the instructor will give detailed verbal cues to assist you. Use your pass or bring a cash donation - pay what you can.

GENTLE YOGA

A gentle class focusing on flowing from pose to pose and linking the movement with the breath. The instructor will offer a variety of modifications to encourage a class suited for all levels. Beginners and experienced practitioners will enjoy this class!

HEATED SLOW FLOW

Heated slow flow allows you to experience the elements of a vinyasa flow but with a slower pace. The addition of heat in the room allows the class to build challenge without a fast pace. This class moves slowly through a vinyasa flow practice offering time to focus on awareness, alignment, and breath. You can expect longer holds in postures, and options to modify or amplify. Whether you’re looking to slow down your regular vinyasa flow or practicing with the addition of heat the first time, this class is for you. Beginners and experienced practitioners welcome.

HOT POWER VINYASA FLOW

The use of heat increases your flexibility allowing you to move through your practice more freely. Heated environments increase your pulse rate and metabolism and coupled with the vinyasa style postures creates an ideal environment for detoxification of the body as well as increased blood flow to the limbs. Faster paced sequences with advanced postures may show up, modifications will be offered. Some yoga experience recommended. Be sure to bring lots of water to stay hydrated throughout the practice.

MUSCLE RELEASE

This class is for anyone with tight muscles looking for that extra stretch and release. We will offer longer holds (along with heat) to promote a deep stretch, tension release, muscle recovery, and improve flexibility. This class can be a supplement to any current movement practice or a way to being a yoga or exercise journey in a slow intentional way. Deep stretch paired with breath work will decrease stress and prepare you for the week ahead as you walk out feeling renewed. Heat panels will be used to warm the room on cooler days.

RELAXATION YOGA

Our Relaxation Yoga class at Flex is specifically designed to help students quiet the mind and rejuvenate the body. Class will begin with breath work as we set ourselves apart from the stressful pace of the day. A gentle flow will then be followed by deep stretches and relaxation poses that will leave you feeling refreshed and ready to face the week ahead.

RESTORATIVE SOUND BATH

After a few minutes of guided focus on the breath, the remainder of the experience is filled with different sounds and frequencies being introduced in succession. The sounds are created by a variety of overtone-emitting instruments including chimes, Native American Flute, sea drum, gongs, crystal singing bowls, and even voice.

When you sink into a Sound Bath and guide your awareness to your listening, you allow your brain waves to slow, shifting from a more active state to a more relaxed state, or even a dreamlike state.

RESTORATIVE YOGA

Restorative yoga is gentle, restful, and for some a healing yoga experience. It enables deep relaxation as you surrender to supported poses for longer periods of time with the help of props to completely support you. The pace is very relaxing and slow paced. Props, like blocks, bolsters, blankets and straps are used so that you are supported in your pose comfortably in such a way that you can completely relax and let go. These supported poses allow the nervous system to calm. These poses allow the mind to slow down, and the body to achieve deep, restorative relaxation.

ROLL, STRETCH, AND REJUVENATE

This 60 minute class is the PERFECT way to end your weekend and a great combo when taken with 6:45 PM Muscle Release. If you have a foam roller or a pool noodle, please bring it with you. We will have some to borrow as well.

This class will be divided up into 3 parts: rolling, Stretching, Restorative. *** Rolling is not recommended for those who have cardiac or heart issues or those who are pregnant. Always talk to your doctor before starting an exercise program.

SLOW BURN

This heated 45 minute flow will focus on using static holds to create slow progressive sequences using Power Vinyasa poses. This will be perfect for those looking for a heated class that builds strength, stability and internal heat with longer breath cycles rather than faster movements.

VINYASA FLOW

Vinyasa is literally translated from Sanskrit to mean “connection”. In terms of yoga asana, or poses, we can interpret this as a connection between movement (asanas) and breath (pranayama). These classes are designed to help each yogi begin to find a deeper connection to their body and their breath as they begin to build heat in their vinyasa flow and find their own personal edge in each pose.

YIN YOGA

Yin Yoga is a slow, meditative practice in a non-heated room that gives you space to turn inward and tune into the sensations of your mind and body. It targets your deep connective tissues, like your fascia, ligaments, joints, and bones, by holding supported, seated and reclined postures for two to five minutes, or even longer. Staying in poses for longer helps to stretch those infrequently targeted connective tissues and teaches you to breathe through discomfort and sit with your thoughts. Our Yin yoga classes are designed to accommodate all levels of practice, from those who have never practiced Yin Yoga before to seasoned Yin Yogis on a quest to deepen their practice.

26 & 2: HOT YOGA

This challenging series of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises is designed to improve overall health and flexibility while increasing stamina and cardio vascular health. This asana practice has meditative and physical benefits and is done in a heated room for a detoxifying effect. All experience levels are welcome!
