Aerial Hammock Teacher Training

Learn to share the gift of flight.

Aerial Hammock Yoga Training

Aerial Hammock Yoga, also referred to as anti-gravity yoga, combines traditional yoga poses, pilates, and dance with the use of an aerial hammock. The aerial hammocks are suspended from the ceiling, hold 2000 pounds, and are made of high density nylon fabric.

Yoga in the silks can increase body awareness and mindfulness, help build strength and control, and can help build space in the body without compressing the joints and spine. Aerial Yoga can unwind fascial knots, quiet the mind, build core strength, and increase confidence.

All participants will receive a Teacher Training manual and will have a chance to practice teach, work in the silks, ask questions, and address concerns.

Meet the Trainer
Melissa Schultz

I'm a Wooster native with a lifelong love of movement. My first yoga class was at age 11, and although there was much I didn't understand, I knew it felt powerful to quiet my mind with a few breaths. Yoga only became a regular part of my life once I discovered the Flex family shortly before the opening of the Market St. studio.

I love to fly and move. My curiosity and appreciation for non-traditional movement drew me to one of Flex's first aerial classes. It was a short trip from there to Flex's first aerial teacher training in 2016. I love watching new flyers discover their love for it, and experienced fliers unlock something new.

Aerial adds diversity and challenge to any movement practice. It allows everything from deeply supportive restorative poses to challenging fitness and flexibility to adrenalin-inducing drops.

Outside the studio, I work in communications and marketing for a software startup. I love learning about health, nutrition, wellness, and movement. I married my high school sweetheart and have two teenagers, two dogs, and many houseplants. If you're looking for me, I'm probably experimenting with plant-based recipes in the kitchen.
