That's why we offer comprehensive wellness and recovery services from highly trained practitioners. Wellness Services take place in our Wellness Suite, located on the same floor as Flex Yoga. ADHD Empowerment

Flex Yoga Wellness + Recovery offers one-on-one coaching for individuals with ADD/ADHD and parents of those with a diagnosis. Expect to learn tools to empower yourself or your child. Sessions led by Emily Moorefield Mariola, E-RYT 500 and Certified ADHD Life Coach.

We offer Compression Boot Therapy using Kingsfield Compression Boots in our Zero Gravity Chairs.

Crystal Bowl Sound Healing

A Crystal Sound Bowl Healing Session is a relaxing experience using the vibration of sound from crystal singing bowls being placed around the body to break up blockages from the emotional, physical, and metaphysical level. It allows you to completely let go and receive a re-alignment to your entire energetic body using powerful sound vibration. Crystal singing bowls are made up of quartz crystal, which has an innate ability to amplify and transfer energy. This session allows for all the healing intention carried on the sound vibrations to be focused on you. You may be fully awake or fall into a deep meditative state, or light sleep. You are likely to feel relaxed and refreshed by the end of the session. There is also the possibility for healing to occur during or in the hours following a session, depending on your readiness developmentally and/or spiritually.

Cupping Therapy (Returning Soon)

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as an addition to massage.

Dry Needling

Dry needling is a modality used like many others to release muscular tension and to treat systemically sensitive neurogenic pathways. Myofascial tension and neurologic sensitivities often lead to pain that can impact daily function. Dry needling is a widely researched and highly beneficial treatment to reduce pain, increase healing, and improve overall functional independence. Marisa offers dry needling to all areas of the body including upper and lower extremities, cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine, hands, feet, face, jaw, and head. Dry needling is ideal for clients who also seek improvement in functional movement and participation in daily activities.

Infared Sauna

Our Clearlight® infrared sauna produces the same infrared heat produced by the sun and Infrared heat is required for all living things for optimum health. This radiant heat increases the thermal energy in joints, muscles and tissues. When used as intended as part of a healthy lifestyle, Clearlight® infrared saunas may help living well with certain chronic diseases or conditions.

Massage Therapy - (Returning Soon)

We offer a variety of techniques in massage to help relax the mind, reset the body, and rewire the nervous system. Modalities include: Relaxation, Trigger Point Release, Myofascial Release and Muscle Energy Technique. Massage is performed on a massage table, the client undressed to their level of comfort, and draped with sheets and blankets. Only the client's head and the part of the body being worked on is uncovered at any time. Massage lubricants like oils, lotions, and cremes are often used, but not always, and individual preferences are always taken into consideration.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy will incorporate everyday life occupations for the purpose of enhancing participation, regaining function, and resuming daily life occupations that support function. Participation in occupations that are meaningful to the client involves emotional, psychosocial, cognitive, and physical aspects of performance to enhance health, well-being, and life satisfaction. Clients of occupational therapy can include individuals or groups ranging from pediatrics to adults to geriatrics. All clients must begin with a 60-minute Occupational Therapy Evaluation. After that, sessions are booked in 30 or 60 minute increments.

One-on-One Yoga, Fitness, Aerial

Private Lessons can be specialized to meet your needs. We offer private lessons for individuals in yoga, fitness, and Pilates. Whether you are looking to target specific muscle groups, master a pose, introduce mindfulness into your week, or any other specification, we can connect you with an instructor to best suit your needs.

Reiki Healing

A Reiki session at Flex Wellness + Recovery aims to reduce your stress, increase your energy, strengthen your immune system and create a deeper overall sense of peace and well-being. Reiki is a Japanese practice, simple and natural, that improves the flow of life force energy through hands-on bodywork. A Reiki treatment will naturally and gently unbind energy within the body to allow for a smoother and more unified energetic flow. Each treatment is individual since each person will respond uniquely to the treatment based on his or her own body, mind and soul’s need.

Reiki Sound Healing

This signature session is a combination of reiki healing and sound healing. You will enjoy these energy healing modalities while relaxing in a supported restorative pose. The frequency of sound is used for deep relaxation and used to aid in removing blockages in the chakras and energetic field of the body. Hands on Reiki is used to assist in balancing the mind, body, and spirit. Both therapies will lead you into a state of deep receptivity in which you will gently encourage the mind & body to release stress and worry and achieve a renewed, rested, and restored state of being.

Christine Canter

Christine is an E-500-RYT, E-200 RYT and YACEP®. She is also a Karuna Reiki Master, Holy Fire III Reiki Master and Usui Reiki Master. She found her way to her mat after having her children. She was in need of some Mind & Body connection but discovered so much more. She discovered a Soul connection to the energy brought forth from yoga, from breath awareness and movement; she found healing in another form. She enjoys offering services that will allow clients to find a space within them where they can just be who they are in that moment; without expectations or judgements; to breathe, to move, to connect back to their essence of themselves, to take what they need and leave the rest. To be able to share parts of her journey to help students feel embodied and empowered in themselves, to give them the tools, the intentions, to continue to reach their highest potential on and off the mat is why she is passionate about helping others find their practice.

Reiki Practitioner

Debora Galaz

Debora Galaz hails from Santiago, Chile. She is the oldest of five siblings, all of whom still live in Chile. She came to the US at age 20 and finished her degree in Elementary Education at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. She met her husband in Madison, but they soon moved to Wooster where he is from in order to raise their two children closer to his family. When she's not teaching dance fitness classes, she manages her fiber arts business, making a variety of felted wool clothing accessories and ornaments and selling them online and at Local Roots Market. Debora Galaz discovered Reiki by happenstance while seeking out a massage -- the masseuse was not in that day, but the Reiki practitioner was, and her vision of "body work" was forever changed. She loves the feeling of mind and body balance that it brings. She is certified at Reiki Level 1 & Level 2, in the Usui Reiki Ryoho tradition, having completed her training at Yoga on High in Columbus.

Emily Mariola

Emily Moorefield Mariola is the founder of Flex Yoga & is a certified Yoga Instructor through Amazing Yoga Studios of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She completed her advanced training at The Yoga Place and is certified RYT-500, E-RYT 200, YACEP, through Yoga Alliance. Emily also holds Barre & Yin certificates. Emily took her first yoga class in 2004 & has been hooked ever since. Originally a competitive runner, Emily was a high school state champion and a three time All-American in Cross-Country and Track & Field. Emily uses her understanding of competitive athletics and awareness of physical capabilities to enhance her yoga practice as well as her teaching. Emily teaches a Power Vinyasa Flow style of yoga that integrates the physical poses (or asanas) with the breath (or pranayama) in a fluid and powerful way. Although many find a yoga practice to fulfill their exercise regime, Emily believes it is also the best supplement for the competitive athlete, those looking for the edge, and for those interested in restoring balance and flexibility in a more gentle practice. The emotional benefits of a consistent yoga practice can equal (and often exceed) the physical benefits of yoga, & the instructors at Flex Yoga are committed to carefully guide all students to work within their limits. Emily's goal is that Flex Yoga can be a space where all people can find and experience the emotional and physical benefits of yoga. Very young to very old, very fit to not fit at all, yoga can bring softness, flexibility, balance and strength to the body and the mind. With a strong commitment to continue and enhance her yoga education Emily has taken additional teacher trainings and workshops from some of the best yoga instructors in the country, including: Karen & Sean Conley, Kathryn Budig, Bryan Kest, and Doug Swenson. A potter by trade, Emily has found yoga creeping into her art more and more these days. Emily & her husband Mike live on a farm just south of Wooster with their four free-range children: Ian, Vincy, Annie and Mia.

Occupational Therapist

Marisa Hammond

Marisa Hammond is a licensed and registered occupational therapist with 6 years of experience. She received her bachelor’s of science degree in exercise physiology from Ashland University and pursued her master’s of occupational therapy degree from Cleveland State University. Marisa has worked with clients in all walks of life, from infants to geriatrics, to regain functional independence. Currently she works in area school districts with students with varied abilities as well as Wooster ommunity Hospital. As an occupational therapist, Marisa will use everyday life occupations for the purpose of enhancing participation, regaining function, and resuming daily life occupations that support function. Through these sessions, clients can expect to improve functional performance in daily activities, restore independence, and increase overall well-being, no matter the medical diagnosis. Marisa is also trained to incorporate various modalities such as dry needling, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, cupping, and kinesiotaping as part of treatment sessions to help improve participation in daily life.
